Mindfulness & Meditation

The Center's mindfulness and meditation programs are suitable for both beginning and more advanced meditators. No matter the experience level, the essence of the practice is the same: generating the energy of mindfulness in order to be truly present – not caught in the past or carried away by the future, but here, body and mind united, aware of what is happening in the present moment, becoming truly alive.

For Buddhist Sanghas & Other Spiritual-Based Groups

Dharma teacher Cheri Maples leads mindfulness retreats as well as evening or day-long mindfulness programs, traveling throughout the country. Her teachings reflect a synthesis of the Thich Nhat Hanh and the Vipassana (Insight) traditions.

For Criminal Justice Professionals

Tools are provided to help professionals increase their awareness of how a career in criminal justice can begin to affect them over time, often wreaking havoc in their personal lives and relationships. This training is designed to offer more functional ways of dealing with the stress inherent in the criminal justice field.

For Helping Professionals

The focus of this training is how to deal with the emotional effects of one's employment in order to maintain an open heart and healthy boundaries. A particular emphasis is on tools enabling one to navigate the emotional effects of bearing witness to the suffering and trauma experienced by – and often created by – clients.

For Parents

Few things can be more difficult than creating healthy and useful boundaries with challenging teenagers. The Mindful Parenting/Surviving Challenging Teenagers class centers on protecting your relationship with your child by building and maintaining firm, compassionate boundaries.
